    New industrial applications call for new methods and new ideas in signal analysis. Wavelet packets are new tools in industrial applications and they have just recently appeared in projects and patents. In training neural networks, for the sake of dimensionality and of ratio of time, compact information is needed. This paper deals with simultaneous noise suppression and signal compression of quasi-harmonic signals. A quasi-harmonic signal is a signal with one dominant harmonic and {some more} sub harmonics in superposition. Such signals often occur in rail vehicle systems, in which noisy signals are present. Typically, they are signals which come from rail overhead power lines and are generated by intermodulation phenomena and radio interferences. An important task is to monitor and recognize them. This paper proposes an algorithm to differentiate discrete signals from their noisy observations using a library of nonorthonormal bases. The algorithm combines the shrinkage technique and techniques in regression analysis using {Shannon Entropy function} and {Cross Entropy function} to select the best {discernable} bases. Cosine and sine wavelet bases in wavelet packets are used. The algorithm is totally general and can be used in many industrial applications. The effectiveness of the proposed method consists of using as few as possible samples of the measured signal and in the meantime {highlighting} the difference between the noise and the desired signal. The problem is a difficult one, but well posed. In fact, compression reduces the level of the measured noise and undesired signals but introduces the well known {compression noise}. The goal is to extract a {coherent signal} from the measured signal which will be ``well represented" by suitable
    waveforms and a noisy signal or {incoherent signal} which cannot b ``compressed well" by the waveforms. Recursive residual terations with cosine and sine bases allow the extraction of elements of the required signal and the noise. The algorithm that has been developed is utilized as a filter to extract features for training neural networks. It is currently integrated in the inferential modelling platform of the unit for Advanced Control and Simulation Solutions within ABB's industry division. An
    application using real measured data from an electrical railway line is presented to illustrate and analyze the effectiveness of the proposed method. Another industrial application in fault detection, in which coherent and incoherent signals are univocally visible, is also shown.

    In this paper, we introduce a new class of generalized convex
    function, namely, $\alpha$-pseudo-univex function, by combining
    the concepts of pseudo-univex and $\alpha$-invex functions.
    Further, we establish some relationships between vector
    variational-like inequality problems and vector optimization
    problems under the assumptions of $\alpha$-pseudo-univex
    functions. Results obtained in this paper present a refinement and
    improvement of previously known results.

    In this paper, a new approach is successfully addressed to design the state-feedback adaptive stabilizing control law for a class of high-order nonlinear systems in triangular form and with unknown and nonidentical control coefficients, whose stabilizing control has been investigated recently under the knowledge that the lower bounds of the control coefficients are exactly known. In the present paper, without any knowledge of the lower bounds of the control coefficients, based on the adaptive technique and appropriately choosing design parameters, we give the recursive design procedure of the stabilizing control law by utilizing the approach of adding a power integrator together with tuning functions. The state-feedback adaptive control law designed not only preserves the equilibrium at the origin, but also guarantees the global asymptotic stability of the closed-loop states and the uniform boundedness of all the other closed-loop signals.

    The design of full-order robust estimators is investigated for continuous-time polytopic uncertain systems. The main purpose is to obtain a stable linear estimator such that the estimation error system remains robustly stable with a prescribed $H_{\infty}$ attenuation level. Firstly, a simple alternative proof is given for an improved LMI representation of $H_{\infty }$ performance proposed recently. Based on the performance criterion which keeps the Lyapunov matrix out of the product of the system dynamic matrices, a sufficient condition for the existence of the robust estimator is provided in terms of linear matrix inequalities. It is shown that the proposed design strategy allows the use of parameter-dependent Lyapunov functions and hence it is less conservative than the earlier results. A numerical example is employed to illustrate the feasibility and advantage of the
    proposed design.

    In this paper, the authors investigate the existence of solutions of impulsive boundary value problems for Sturm-Liouville type differential inclusions which admit non-convex-valued multifunctions on right hand side. Two results under weaker conditions are presented. The methods rely on a fixed point theorem for contraction multi-valued maps due to Covitz and Nadler and Schaefer's fixed point theorem combined with lower semi-continuous multi-valued operators with decomposable values.

    With the concept of security-spot market or security market with measurable space of agents, which was first given by Zhang (1998, 2000), we continue to discuss the existence of equilibrium in such large economies. Under common conditions, we have claimed the existence of equilibrium in incomplete security-spot market with a continuum of traders. Because of the development from complete market to incomplete market, we have not only generalized Aumann's results in 1966, but also achieved a breakthrough on researching methods.

    In this paper, the authors propose a class of Dai-Yuan (abbr.DY) conjugate gradient methods with linesearch in the presence of perturbations on general function and uniformly convex function respectively. Their iterate formula is $x_{k+1}=x_{k}+\alpha_{k}(s_{k}+\omega_{k})$, where the main direction $s_{k}$ is obtained by DY conjugate gradient method,$\omega_{k}$ is perturbation term, and stepsize $\alpha_k$ is determined by linesearch which does not tend to zero in the limit
    necessarily. The authors prove the global convergence of these methods under mild conditions. Preliminary computational experience is also reported.

    The exponential stability of a multi-state device is discussed in this paper. We present that the $\mbox{\boldmath$C$}_0 $-semigroup generated by the system operator is quasi-compact and irreducible. It is known that 0 is a simple eigenvalue of the system operator. In combination with this, we obtain that the time-dependent solution exponentially converges to the steady-state solution, which is the positive eigenfuction corresponding to the simple eigenvalue 0.

    This paper studies a general dynamic duopoly in which two firms compete in the adoption of current technology with a further new technology anticipated. Three kinds of equilibria may occur in technology adoption, namely the preemptive, sequential, and simultaneous equilibrium, depending on the level of operating
    costs and the first-move advantage. It shows that the faster technological innovation encourages the leader to invest earlier, while induces the follower to invest later. Furthermore, like the investment costs, with the increase of the operating costs, the follower tends to invest later, while the leader tends to invest
    earlier. However, the investment thresholds are more sensitive to the change of the operating costs than that of the investment costs.

    Synthesis and design of output variable structure controller for time-invariant linear time-delay singular system are studied. In the case that the system is regular and the system index is one, switching function with integral compensator and variable
    structure controller are designed, which guarantee that the sliding mode is asymptotically stable and the solution trajectory of the system arrives at the switching manifold in limited time. The design method is applicable to the systems which can be regularized. Finally, a numerical example is given to demonstrate effectiveness and simplicity of the design method.

    The concept of quasi-coincidence of a fuzzy interval value in an interval valued fuzzy set is considered. In fact, this concept is a generalized concept of the quasi coincidence of a fuzzy point in a fuzzy set. By using this new concept, the authors define the notion of interval valued $(\in,\in\vee q)$-fuzzy $h$-ideals of hemirings
    and study their related properties. In addition, the authors also extend the concept of a fuzzy subgroup with thresholds to the concept of an interval valued fuzzy $h$-ideal with thresholds in hemirings.
