    It is well known that the transient behaviors of the traditional adaptive control may be very poor in general, and that the adaptive control designed based on switching between multiple models is an intuitively appealing and practically feasible approach to improve the transient performances.

    This is a continuation of a recent work(J. Dutta) on a class of non-smooth functions and their subdifferentials. In this note, necessary optimality conditions are derived for the inequality constrained mathematical programming problems involving such non-smooth functions by employing Gordan's Alternative Theorem.

    The subgradient, under the weak Benson proper efficiency, of a set-valued mapping in ordered Banach space is developed, and the weak Benson proper efficient Hahn-Banach theorem of a set-valued mapping is established, with which the existence of the subgradient is proved and the characterizations of weak Benson proper efficient elements of constrained (unconstrained) vector set-valued optimization problems are presented.

    In this paper, two kinds of Kullback-Leibler criteria with appropriate constraints are proposed to construct empirical likelihood confidence intervals for the mean of right censored data. It is shown that one of the criteria is equivalent to Adimari's(1997) procedure,and the other shares the same asymptotic behavior.

    In the present paper, the absolute stability of general Lurie discrete nonlinear control systems has been discussed by Lyapunov function approach. A sufficient condition of absolute stability for the general Lurie discrete nonlinear control systems is derived,and some necessary and sufficient conditions are obtained in special cases.

    A robust SQP method, which is analogous to Facchinei's algorithm, is introduced. The algorithm is globally convergent. It uses automatic rules for choosing penalty parameter, and can efficiently cope with the possible inconsistency of the quadratic search subproblem.
