    The spectrum of the transport operator A in a nonhomogeneous slab withcontinuous energy is discussed in consideration of anisotropic scattering and fission. Weshow the relative compactness of the perturbation K = A - B, investigate the spectrum of A,especially obtain the essential spectrum and the asymptotic point spectrum in L~1 space which is the most natural space for the transport theory.

    A uniform algorithm for transient solutions of generalized quasi-birth-deathprocesses with an arbitrary initial distribution is developed in this paper. This algorithmis an effective tool for computing the transient queue length distributions of many queuing models which appear quite often in computer and communication systems.

    This paper focuses on the H optimal control problem in which the wholestate is available for feedback. We show that in attenuating the disturbance, the Hoptimal performance of dynamic state-feedback is no better than that of static state-feedback,which generalizes current trsults for linear time-invariant systems with no direct transmission form the disturbance and control input to the controlled output.

    In this paper, we analyze the Galerkin approximation of parabolic integro-differential equation. A probability computational method for the equation is proposed.The method is based on the backward Euler scheme,the left rectangle rule and the probability transfer matrices.
